Currently 3D printing is part of our curriculum for drafting, so we typically use it to show proof of 3D drawing or as a free service to local industry to the better of all. I have used it to print the shell for a robot arm my students are building.

right now it's just decorative or toy parts. I want to extend it into other actual useful gadgets later down the road. Just have to invent them first

My new found interest in the world of 3D printing has to do with the creation of prototypes for the items that I would like to produce in quantity once the design is perfected.

When mine arrives it will be used primarily for prototyping components to be used for my custom motorcycle projects. It will also be used for some industrial fixturing prototypes when needed.

Mostly things for engineering projects, but I managed to print some stuff for more private reasons too. Just don't tell my professor.

I tend to make parts for storing various things around the house, as well as parts for fixing up random broken stuff. If I had a larger printer I would do some larger storage containers and shelving solutions. 3D printing is great for storage containers because you can make it exactly the right size or shape to store what you need.

prototyping at my company is used the most. It lets us see a new part before we waste the cost of metals and labor to try and make it.
