Need help deciding!
I am in the market for a 3d printer, and my budget is around 600$ USD.
I am stuck right now between the soliddoodle 4 and the XYZ printing da vinci 1.0.
Both are around the same price point, support the same filaments, both are about 8x8x8, and are both about the same price.
Accuracy wise they seem the same, but one big difference is the fact that the solid doodle doesn't require proprietary filament.
I know their are ways around their filaments chip and such, but I feel that it is such a benefit to not have to worry about that.
Also I believe the soliddoodle supports other filetypes that should come standard with the XYZ, but do not.
So besides the FACTORY support, which printer preforms better, from eveyones' experience?
Any tips or things you can mention about either printer to help sway or deter me from either one?
I hope this is in the right section, I just joined this forum a few minutes ago!
Thanks, Ryan!

They don't quite support the same filament. The DaVinci printers have proprietary filament cartridges with an identification chip that you either have to disable somehow or be forced to use DaVinci brand filament. I personally don't feel that it affects the printer's capabilities one way or another, but getting a model that uses chipped print material just feels like encouraging bad behavior.
As far as I know, the Solidoodle doesn't do that. (but I've not really paid enough attention to them I must admit.)

I was looking at a Da vinci also, but the print quality is terrible, as is the Solidoodle for about $600... and everything else Feign said, I Ditto... proprietary filament is bad bad bad.
Spend a bit more, get a replicator 2 clone, you can pick them up for about $750-1000

Stay on budget and get a Makerfarm 8" I3v. If you have to avoid assembly, what Geoff said. Replicator or ff creator knock off.
