Help with fondant embossers

Hi all,

First time poster, apologies if i have posted in the wrong place... but i figured i need tips and tricks.

Machine - Flashforge Adventurer 5M. I think the nozzle is 4mm.

Im printing embossers for iced cookies. I was initially using PETG (Red in photo) but have since moved to PLA (Black in photo). However using both filaments im getting stringing inbetween letters and icons. Im also getting some gaps? On researching myself i have seen about increasing retraction distance and speed and lowering printing temp re the stringing and then increasing infill overlap re the gaps.Im just looking for advice on ways to resolve this, is it the above i need to be looking at?
