Lines on one side of prints

Hi,

I recently bought my first 3D printer, an EasyThreed X1, which I've had for about a month and a half. It was doing ok initially and then I modded the printer last week to add a part cooling fan. Since then I started having an issue where every print consistantly has visible lines (usually around similarly placed layers) on one side of my prints (always the same side). I have been using the same spool of filament (PLA) and tried relevelling the bed and that didn't make a difference. I have attached photos of a calibration cube, showing the issue. The lines are on the Y axis face, but only on the side which doesn't have the Y printed on it. Any ideas what might be causing this issue?

Cause: you added a cooling fan
Effect: you've somehow buggered it up :-)

From what I can see - that's a truly poundshop printer.
What you have done is add extra weight to what was already a part at maximum weight for the support gantry. I'm guessing the further away the head gets from the support structure the more it's going to move.

Couple things you can do.
1) Completely redesign the attachment of the z-axis to the support structure.
2) remove the fan from the extruder head and use a turbo fan attached somewhere else and some fishtank flexibe tubing to add a super lightweight blower.

But basically I reckon you've added too much weight to the extruder.

The X2 model is exactly the same as the X1 but with a part cooling fan installed and a digital display. But the X1 has all the circuitary and connections there, but with no actual part cooling or cover to direct the air. It seems strange that effectively making my printer into an X2 (I even bought the exact fan model that is used) would cause too much weight
