Wanted to Introduce myself and our plan.... hoping Hyrel is the solution for us!
Guys
as you will know by now through emails, we're very keen to talk further with you guys about purchasing an E5 System for a new venture in the UK.
I'm a network and senior systems engineer for a US company that supports checkin facilities at Airports as one of it's many portfolio items! I specialise in Check in Kiosks specifically!
My buddy Nick is a mechanical engineer and runs his own business, Wright Engineering. Nick is a seriously clever cookie!! and can make pretty much anything out of metal in his workshop.
Most specifically he focuses on Prototype parts and rebuild of engine components etc for vintage cars! He currently creates all of his parts in metal, including test and prototype elements.
We're hoping to change that for him! and at the same time start providing a service locally to us for specialist parts and one off's, but also have a library of "other" items we can create and sell on the side.
Despite our lack of knowledge in the 3D printing department, we're VERY keen on the E5 system and it's capabilities! Nick has fairly extensive knowledge through his work on two major pieces of kit in his workshop, CNC milling machines, and I'm hoping my technical computer background along with groeing knowledge of Solidwroks etc will be able to support the setup. We're not looking for a simple desktop unit, but rather something thats going to become a real benefit to the work Nick currently does and a wider market for new services and ideas. Another one of which is to broaden the market for custom built Quadcopters in the UK.
I especially like the test run with Sugru. Can I ask, was the finished product as expected? there are many applications we can see for being able to mould Sugru and allow to set for rubber parts needed for things.
We're very keen to understand further the full potential of the Hyrel setup and whether it's the right solution for us!
Cheers
Rob

Hi Davo,
Thanks for the reply, yes your right we were talking about the system 30 and thats for sure what we'd be looking for!
We are just sorting the finances into a correct bank account to be able to use them and I think we'll be purchasing!
Even though we're new in this game, ya think we'll be ok with this system? we're both pretty good with technology!
Have you guys sold any units into the UK before, something else I thought I might need to consider is the power, obviously over here we are 240v, is this going to be an issue ?
I tried to catch the live broadcast your team runs last night, but got my timings mixed up and missed it by an hour, I hope to see Wednesdays one.

Robin,
Here's the deal:
Some printers will only work with one predefined material, purchased from the manufacturer. They maintain good quality control, and their printer is calibrated perfectly for this one filament. This is a great choice for first time owners, or those who don't want to experiment with other material, or those who don't want to be bothered with recipes.
Our printers will work with dozens of materials; since we don't know what material you will be printing in, you must select and quite possibly refine your recipes (ratios of material advancement, temperature, print speed, layer height, etc.) for your material of choice.
If you are an experimenter, you will probably want our printer. If you want to print in materials other than filament, you will need our printer. If you want to find a file online, press a few buttons, and get a print without much effort, you will not want the printers we are making today.
If our products don't match your needs, we will point you toward other manufacturers. While we want you to be happy with ours, we would rather you to be happy with another manufacturer's than unhappy with ours.
We have units in the UK; we use a typical PC power supply, which can be set for 115 or 230 VAC.
I don't know when the next broadcast is planned at the moment. I don't believe you missed much last night, it was very short.
