Panning for gold is a technique that has been around since ancient Egypt, and the method has remained largely unchanged since then, despite several inefficiencies. Klint Washburn, an engineer and gold enthusiast, has changed the world of gold panning with the Gold Claw, a newly designed gold pan that isolates the gold from the mud and gravel scooped up by the panner. After several prototypes, 3D printed with help from service bureau WhiteClouds, the Gold Claw is now raising money on Kickstarter.
