'The Bug' Fiber Composite 3D Printer
While this is far from a finished product, I thought the idea behind this printer was phenomenal. Sebastian Morales has created a 3D printer capable of extruding cotton thread (or other fibers) which have been soaked in UV curable resin. The fibers are extruded and then a UV light hits them to cure (harden) them. While his printer can only make some rather simplistic shapes at the moment, he is working to improve the efficiency and quality of printers. This really has a lot of potential if it can be improved a lot. Read and see more on 'The Bug' at: http://3dprint.com/18848/the-bug-fiber-3d-printer/
