Can I safely use a thread locker to keep a bolt from unscrewing?
I am running a Markforged machine printing nylon. I have used the machine for a few years now and have had a glitch that I am afraid to address without some of your--my esteemed 3d printer colleagues'--advice. The nylon runs into a hot extruder via a brass bolt. This brass bolt has a funnel-shaped top that the nylon material runs through into the hot black extruder. Then the hot nylon is extruded through another brass bolt that has a thin opening onto the build platform.
Recently, the top funnel-shaped bolt has come loose whilst printing thus arresting the print about 1/3 of the estimated final build volume and making a mess (looks like backlash on fishing line).
Sooo, my question is: can I use a thread locker (eg loktite [sp?]) without it melting onto and out of the extruder and screwing up the print in another fashion? Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.
