XZEED DLP 3D printer With Multi Materials
Industrial design student Reinout Holtrup, at the Netherlands' University of Twente, has taken his bachelor assignment as an opportunity to address some issues in the SLA 3D printing space--particularly the limit of colors/materials in a print. Focusing on a Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printer, Holtrup has created a prototype machine that can print with up to 5 materials/colors at once. His machine, the XZEED Multi-Material DLP Printer, has five vats that can hold different materials that can be changed out mid-print. Gee, seems like a mechanical nightmare...too bad, DLP printers are the most elegant and simple from a design point of view, just one motor/moving axis.
