3D Printed Mother Jones Gun - The Battle Drags On

One of the most hotly debated subjects when dealing with 3D Printing has been the ability for people to 3D Print Guns and Gun parts in the comfort of their own home for under $100. All they have to do is download the file, and print it out with their printers. Recently a left wing American magazine called "Mother Jones" decided to release an article on their website titled, "How Reddit Became a Gun Market." In this article they claim that there is a whole section on reddit for the sale of firearms, and that one gun manufacturer decided to even engrave the reddit logo on a bunch of their guns. Here is a snippet from their article which they posted last Wednesday:

Since 2011, part of the popular online forum Reddit has grown into an active marketplace for assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, and other powerful firearms, according to an investigation by Mother Jones. In the last six months alone there have been more than 1,000 listings posted by more than 400 Redditors on the GunsForSale subreddit, one of thousands of niche communities on the sprawling discussion site. Not only has Reddit allowed a gun market to thrive, it has also literally put its stamp on it: Gun purchases brokered through the site have included nearly 100 AR-15s engraved with Reddit's alien logo, which was used on the assault rifles with explicit permission from the company—while it was owned by media giant Condé Nast—according to email correspondence obtained by Mother Jones.
In my opinion, Big Deal! But that's just me. Redditors clearly were not going to let some left wing magazine talk them down, and in fact one Redditor got extremely creative, and did this!

What is it you may ask? It's a lower receiver to an AR-15, which has been 3D Printed customized specifically for Mother Jones. Where the serial number usually is, he decided to put the phone number to the magazine. Currently several posts of Reddit, related to this Mother Jones customized gun are "Hot," and in fact you can download the 3D file yourself and print out your very own lower received part of this gun engraved with "Mother Jones". The download is available here: http://rghost.net/51504555

In conclusion, whether you are for or against the ability to 3D Print guns and gun parts, or if you are for or against "right to carry" laws, you have to admit that this was one of the best internet comebacks in the last year or so, If not EVER!

Both sides are a bit childish. Not really having a strong opinion on this, it is pretty awesome how this guy printed a custom lower part of this gun. At least it puts 3D Printing more in the spotlight. Never heard of this magazine before today.
