The Best, cheapest nozzle cleaning kit you can own..
I have used these for 3 years almost, they are my life saver.
If anyone else plays guitar, your strings are a perfect cleaning tool, I use specifically the 0.28mm ones with the purple tip from d'iadario but any will do, you just need to check the thickness.
I have a 0.3mm nozzle so the 0.28mm guitar string is the perfect cleaning tool, you can get it right in there and unclog it.
If your extruder will not extrude straight down, and comes out to the side a bit in curly patterns, sticks to the extruder end until it forms a massive blob, then falls thanks to the effects of gravity, then please, give this a go it will save you money and time.
A pack of guitar strings is $10, by itself about $2... this is a win win scenario.

Guessing none of those sizes would be good for a 0.4mm nozzle?

Wonder how stiff it is tho.

Anything UNDER 0.4mm will fit, so yes they will do fine, the E and B string anyway... These are perfect for the 0.4mm nozzle on my flashforge. The 0.3mm is on my kossel - but I use it for both.
There are even lighter gauge strings you can buy, yo just want cheap light gauge strings.
maybe... not sure how rigid it is - the reason I use guitar string is because it wont bend easily when you poke it up there
here is a cheap set of strings... $2.16

4 of Them will be useless (unless you play guitar and the other two will last you the lifetime of your printer.Hex3D - 3D Printing and Design http://www.hex3d.com

I find swapping between PLA and ABS alot causes the gunky clogging for me, so yeah I would be lost without it now.
I did get one of those miniature drill-bit cleaning kits but am afraid of damaging my 0.3mm nozzle so i havent used it yet. the guitar string is good for not causing any damage. There is nothing inside that hole so poke away, the ceramic heater touches the outside of the nozzle, so you won't get electrocuted or anything.Hex3D - 3D Printing and Design http://www.hex3d.com
