Researchers Use Desktop 3D Printer to Create Hard Tissue Implants
What if I were to tell you that an Ultimaker Original 3D printer could be used to 3D print out biodegradable implants for medical use? Well, that is just what researchers at Vilnius University have done, and have thus released a research report on 3DPrint.com. The process uses the 3D Printer, stem cells, and laser microfabrication to create custom fitted implants made from actual cells, which degrade within the body within a couple of years. The full report can be found here: http://3dprint.com/17403/3d-print-scaffolds-tissue
