Can anyone explain to me how I would go about making my own PLA or ABS filament? Also what equipment would I need, and how much money can I save?

You need a device to turn PLA pellets into PLA filament. One that is gaining in popularity is the Filastruder which was a KS project. http://www.filastruder.com/
Here are other extruders that you can buy that will do this as well. In the long run you will make your money back plus a lot more.

Well i have been thinking to get one of those aswell, But i've heard there is a problem with clogging your nozzle with homebrew fillament?
Also well i dont have room for it at the moment ^^
But ye imo it is a good buy if it actualy works,
Pellets normaly are pretty cheap, i think around 7 dollars a kilo or something like that?
When you know a kilo of fillament easily costs like 20-30 dollars means you get 10-20 dollars profit (Instead of buying it) each time,
So ye you should get your money quiet fast back ^^
You could also try selling a few on Ebay if it has some quality.
But you will have to try a few diffrent plastics since there are alot of diffrent types.

This is a nice example of one,
Also a nice example because it shows it wont go flawlessly from the beginning ^^Last edited by DrLuigi; 12-27-2013 at 09:10 AM.
