Japanese design studio YOY worked with K’s Design Lab to produce a signage system that mimics embroidery. The 3D printed pieces were displayed at Tokyo’s Design Week and are the latest addition to the portfolio of the minimalist designers portfolio. Embroidery is a technique that dates back at least two and a half millennia, the history of which is the story of detailed labor and feminine handicraft. The creation of this embroidered signage creates an interesting intersection between manual craft techniques and the latest in advanced technology and materials.
