We've seen 3D printing used in order to create all sorts of customized awards and trophies in the past. However, we have never seen it done on such a large stage before. A company called thingsmiths was contracted by WebMD to 3D print 8 large trophies, which were to be given out to several celebrities, including Martha Stewart, Michael J. Fox, Carson Daly, and others, as part of the company's 2014 Health Hero Awards. Using a Type A Machines Series 1 3D printer, along with a FormLabs Form1+ they printed a very detailed trophy, using Colorfabb's bronzeFill filament and FormLabs' clear resin. The results were quite amazing. Read and see more on this at: http://3dprint.com/24019/webmd-health-heroes-3d/
