Lowe's Unveils Talking Mobile 3D Scanning Robots Which May Soon 3D Print
Big-box hardware store Lowe's announced today that they will begin testing OSHbot robots, starting with one Orchard Supply Hardware store in San Jose, CA, as early as next month. OSHbot is a collaboration with Fellow Robots bringing robots to retail aisles, acting as shopping assistants. Initially these robots will help shoppers find products on store shelves and can scan them to find just the right ones; in the future, the robots have the potential to 3D print smaller pieces on the spot if they are not in stock. So the robots might have 3D printers built-in so the customer can stand around for hours and wait for the part to be built?
