The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) in Richmond, VA, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on razoo.com to raise $40,000 to build a 3D-printed replica of the Forbidden City in Beijing China. The replica will be a highlight of Forbidden City, an exhibit with a total budget of $2 million, displaying many artifacts from the emperors who lived in the Forbidden City from 1421 to 1911. Leapfrog is donating the 3D printers for the project, which is to be completed in time for the exhibit running October 18, 2014 to January 11, 2015.
