I enjoy wiring my printers. I start by identifying the connectors I need for the mainboard. Lately it seems all are using the mini JST connectors in various pin counts. These connectors can all be had in pigtail form on ebay. I like to design my mainboard trays with wiring in mind. I lead all my wires away from the mainboard in the shortest path so the mainboard is out in the open and I use a lot of zip ties to create the harness. I have a soldering station from Radio Shack and I am not afraid to shorten or add to wires in the name of building a specific and deliberate wire harness. And I usually get good results..
