    Kepler's Dream - Projecting a 3D Printed Object

This is a really cool concept, created by two artists in Berlin. They had Shapeways 3D print a very elaborate object, and then used an overhead projectors and several other devices to project light through the object and make an artistic video like presentation. The results were quite incredible. Read more and watch the video presentation at: http://3dprint.com/9644/keplers-dream-3d-printing/

I liked it! The key to its success was that the object they created was complex enough to sustain interest as it was rotated through the field of view. It has a sort of Steampunk ambience as is, but I think it would be improved by motorizing the gimbals - that way motion would be smoother, and the operator's hands wouldn't get in the way.
