The United States Army continues to investigate 3D printing. While we have heard about how they plan on using the technology, and in some cases already do within the battlefield to quickly fabricate supplies, it has also been revealed that they are investigating uses within the medical field, particularly that of facial reconstruction. More details on what they are up to can be found in the following article: http://3dprint.com/8736/army-face-3d-printing/

They are looking at 3D printing's possible advantages in creating models for surgery, producing implants for bone reconstruction, and printing skin for patients. It's all very interesting stuff. Would love to hear your opinions on the Army's possible future uses of the technology within the medical field.
