3D Printing Used to Make Iron Man Suit for Military

Most of us have seen the Iron Man movies, featuring a suit which gives near super powers to Tony Stark. Now the US military is trying to produce a similar suit for their soldiers to wear during battle. They have a very low budget when considering what the government spends on other military related projects, but have the advantage of using 3D printing as a key way to prototype for the device. More details on the 3D printed Iron Man suit can be found here: http://3dprint.com/8441/3d-print-iron-man-military/

Is this a waste of money, or a smart move by the military? What do you think? Check out the image below explaining a bit more about this suit which utilizes 3D printing:

The development of power armor has always been a powerful tool for the military... As a recruitment device.

They have figured out long ago that you don't actually ever have to produce powered armor in order for the percieved effort in developing it to do the job. Money spent on concept sketches and sometimes even prototypes is already seen as money well spent.
