Can a 4;1 be 8:1
So I have a tamiya 4:1 gear head
And I was told if each second tooth was missing the tooth loss would make it move 2 times faster meaning twice as much as it did when each tooth was there
Meaning 8:1
Let me know your thoughts

doesn't sound right.
If you cut the number of teeth by half and ALSO reduce the size of the gear then you'll get a higher ratio.
If you just remove every other tooth and change nothing else then you'll just get skipping gears.
