Does a clear filament exist?
Hi, I'm looking for a clear(ish) filament in either ABS or PLA. Does it even exist out there to buy? I'm trying to make covers for LED bulbs that were put in recessed lighting. They work great and run cold but ugly as sin when they're off.

clear is best in pet plastic. abs and pla arent crystal clear. look at madesolid pet+ or colorfabb xt. both are pet and available in clear. keep in mind that when printed you dont get a crystal clear part.

The Formlabs printer makes very clear parts, but it uses resin, not filament. If this is a major part of what you're doing, though, it might be worth looking into.

X2 on the Taulman 3D T-Glase. As stated above, it is PET, the same plastic they make plastic water bottles from. The Taulman 3D web site gives instructions for how to adjust extrusion profile geometry for best optical clarity.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm still in a learning curve mode here.
I should have rephrased it as I don't want pure clear but more of "sand blast" look as you find on certain shower doors. I can always sand blast it the inside at the shop if it's too clear. Also, if I go the PET route, can I use the same printer that supports ABS and PLA?
Thanks again for the help!

If you want a diffused look, that's what you'll probably get anyway.
Please explain to me how to...
