Interview With Lyman Connor, Founder of Handsmith
At CES 2017, 3DPrint.com had the privilege to meet Lyman Connor, a GE engineer who, in his spare time, has founded Handsmith. The Virginia-based nonprofit organization seeks to offer affordable, accessible bionic hands to those in need; while 1,000 people around the world received bionic prosthetics last year, Connor noted that these were only the individuals who could afford the $45-$90,000 price tags. Using 3D printing technology from Formlabs, Connor has begun to create finished bionic prosthetics for a fraction of that cost.
