Researchers at Hu Biolocomotion Lab at Georgia Tech, led by post doctoral candidate Alexis Noel, have created a new concept inspired by Noel’s cat. As she observed it getting its tongue stuck on a challenging material, Noel was inspired to magnify the tongue spikes and create a 3D printed tongue mimic which may help soft robotics to progress further. They will be presenting their concept this week at the 69th Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society’s Division of Fluid Dynamics, held this year in Portland from November 20-22.
