It did occur to me that this is actually a really good use for ABS.

reason being the basic acetone and carbon powder paint should stick really well to abs as th acetone will particlly dissolve the abs and when it evaporates the carbon should be really well bonded to the model.

I still have a couple shelves filled with old abs filament.
Thinking it might be worth a try to make some copper plated jewellery.
probably just need some distilled water in the bucket of solution and I should be good to go :-)

There's also a recipe for a neutral plating solution that plates with whatever metal you're using as the cathode (anode ?) one of them anyway :-)
So maybe get a chunk of nickel as well.
