The Battle of Culloden ended in 1746 when Scottish Jocobites confronted the British Loyalist army outside Inverness, Scotland. A damaged skull found at that historic site has been sitting in a Scotland museum since 1825, and recently 3D technology -- photogrammetry, modeling, and printing -- have all been used to provide more detail about the skull. We know a musket was used against the deceased soldier at close range, and numerous other facts. This is all part of a larger ongoing project whereby archaeologists use 3D technologies for research and to educate the public -- all without compromising the original artifacts.
