MakerBot's MakerEd Project Challenge winners have been announced. Out of 785 entries, 14-year-old Tuna Tumer came in First Place to win a MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer. Tumer was inspired to design a fillet gauge after watching Adafruit's Layer by Layer about making a case for an Apple TV remote. Tumer noticed that there was a need for an object that can accurately measure curves. Runners up submitted impressive projects as well, including a mousetrap racer, a gear education set, a pulley system, and a chemistry and biology kit. Runners up received a roll of MakerBot filament, but more importantly they helped generate a whole bunch of new project ideas that can all be found on Thingiverse.
