Researchers at the University of Melbourne have developed a way to 3D print arteries taken from high resolution patient scans, allowing them to examine the unique structure of the arteries and better predict where plaque buildup is likely to form. The research team is also working on using 3D printing to design customized, patient-specific stents, which could significantly lower the risk of stent collapse or other complications.
