been around 3d printers for a few years, started with A Seemecnc H-1, then Rostock MAX and the latest is the ORION also from seemecnc.com.
Seemecnc guys are part of our makers group and they are located about 5 minutes from my house so its nice to have Steve and John at my finger tips. My Brother owns Tricklaser.com that makes aftermarket parts for the Rostock Max and Orion printers, along with other printer accesories.

Our maker Group along with seemecnc.com will be hosting the second annual http://midwestreprapfest.org/ March 14 15 16 - 2014 excited to have Josef Prusa (Prusa Mendel/i3 and more) and MaxBots (Mendel MAX dev), , Logxen (Smoothieboard Dev) and many more again this year along with build events from seemecnc and others.

I am currently working on a rotational machine that can reproduce hollow plastic parts from molds, either printed molds or silicon molds taken from a printed part.

    Hi Everyone.

I am Ruben Moss, I am 31, and I live in Pretoria South Africa.

I've had my Prusa i3 for about a year now and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I have made a few upgrades to it, with it. (which to me is the coolest part about 3d printing).

I modified the x carriage to be able to swap the extruder for a pen holder, effectively turning my printer into a plotter. My next project is to add an attachment for a router, I want to be able to mill PCBs as well.

Ultimately I want one machine with which I can take my projects from concept to prototype.

If anyone here is doing the same, please contact me, I would like to know how others are fairing.

    Hi there...

I'm Tom from London, and I'm the resident content guy at RP Platform. I'm still relatively new to the world of 3D printing, but really enjoying exploring it in depth and seeing some of the cool projects and research taking place at the moment. My particular interest is the workflows and processes that go along with 3D printing, and how we can help move it from a purely prototyping tool to a viable production one.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone is working on at the moment!

    Hello to you all.

my name is Morpheus, i am from Holland.
please excuse me for my poor english.
i am all new to the 3d printing world.
at first, i had a XYZ DV1.0 3d-printer. very easy to operate, even for me. but due to their brand filament restrictions, and less variety of coulours available, i decided to buy another printer.
recently i bought a Flashforge Creator Pro. (2016)
i had a hard time figuring it all out, but slowly, i'm learning to know the machine.
i took a few looks around at the forum, all looks great.
i'm hoping to learn more, and i have a lot of questions for you guys.
    happy printing!

    from Holland, Cheers!

Hey, this is my first post here! Name is Bill Ryder. I'm a 46 year old, 20 year software engineering veteran with a very specific goal in mind with regard to 3d printing. The only research I've done so far is to compare various available sub $500 3d printers.

Ultimately I want to play with creating my own filament from HDPE. I had a "Logic" brand boat which was made from HDPE as are many canoes and kayaks, which I could repair by welding with salvaged milk jugs. This led me to think about saving the world by recycling HDPE. I have also looked into some extruders/makers, mostly DIY, online. And my thought is, with perfected 3d printing with HDPE, this would be a great avenue to re-use of discarded HDPE plastic items.

But step one at this point is to be able to do anything I need to start with learning about 3d printing. Would be very appreciative of best advice balancing low cost with ease of getting to the point of printing with HDPE filament. Based on research I'm thinking the the Di Vinci 1.0 Pro is the absolutely quickest path to printing with a decent probability of success with HDPE. Heated base. Variable extruder temps that can handle ABS (which I'm to understand in the in the temp range for HDPE). $349. Comes with software. Auto setup of just about everything possible.

Does that sound like I'm on the right track? Should I consider something else? For example, can I get significantly cheaper with a RepRap based kit, with less hassle and headache than I think? And/Or, are there other options I should consider that I don't even know about?

I look forward to contributing my experiences and finding on this forum over time. Any initial advice sincerely appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this!!

    Hello, fellow 3D Printers.
    Harold Richard (Just Harry)

For me, 3D printing becomes a tool for my real Hobby, RC Sailboat Racing (AMYA). I would much rather experiment around and make my own boat hardware, since I am already designing my own boats. In fact I have 12 designs sitting in the Cloud waiting patiently for me to bring them to life. Just finished a sturdy work Table for my new baby and now setting up the CR-10 S5.

    Cheers,

    Just Harry
