3D printing proves to be a natural fit with assistive technologies more and more. We recently saw MakerBot sponsor a Thingiverse competition for 3D printed assistive device design, and UC Berkeley just held a 3D Printing Designathon with the Assistive Technology theme. The event was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Twenty-seven student organizations participated, which doubled the numbers of the last UC Berkeley Designathon. We look forward to hearing more about what research universities can contribute to the pressing need for improved assistive devices! Read more at http://3dprint.com/107416/uc-berkeley-designathon/
