In a collaborative effort, a team of students and forensic scientists from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the University of Southern Florida in Tampa’s Institute for Forensic Anthropology and Applied Science (IFAAS) set out to solve several years-old cold cases with the help of 3D printing. 3D printed versions of the skulls of nine unidentified deceased persons were reconstructed by student forensic scientists to help Florida law enforcement agencies identify the seven unknown adults and two juveniles.
