Ultimaker Original Vs. Ultimaker 2
Can anyone outline the differences between the Ultimaker and Ultimaker 2? The specs seem the same, with the exception that the Ultimaker 2 has a very slightly larger build volume. What else is so much better about the 2nd generation that it warrants such a larger price tag?

The Ultimaker 2 is only available as an assembled version, there's no kit option - so it's not fair to compare the €995 for the kit with the €1985 for the V2. €1500 for an assembled original v.s. €1900 for a V2, the price difference is "only" €400.
V2 has a heated bed, a larger build volume and it appears to use higher quality materials (no wood).

Its also alot more silent btw,
As you didnt add it to your list i felt this realy should be added since i've heard its barely noticeable.
Ultimaker 1 is still a great option tho,
I would buy the Ultimaker 1 kit if you are a little low on money, if you want a printer thats assembled, i would go right away with the ultimaker 2 since its not such a huge diffrence for a better overall printer.
Or a Makerfarm if your even cheaper as a 3D printer goes.
Please explain to me how to...
