Researchers at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands are really onto something with their latest foray into applications for 3D printing. While looking at the potential for more complex, integrated applications in 3D print, they were able to use dental chemicals and materials to create a 3D printed polymer which not only repels germs, but kills them altogether. While they are still investigating dental applications, there are many, many other areas where the ability to kill bacteria would be inestimably helpful.
