Taz 5 first prints--- Please advise :)
So i am setting this up for the first time, testing the ABS piece that was included to make a calibration cube.
My settings are the standard s3d settings, and it comes out horribly thin.
This picture below was the first layer even with 125% extrusion. So this at least gives a decent full layer, but still doesnt reach the edges.
Ive never seen the need for that high.
Even after the first couple layers are down its thin... Its just not extruding enough
Basic taz5 setup. .5 hex hotend.
240 temp
110 bed
3mm filament
nozzle diam .5
extrusion width .6
First layer heigh ive tried 100 150 200
First layer width seems the higher the worse
First layer speed is 50
ANy idea what might be giving me this issue?
bed is level, nozzle drags with 1 piece of paper
thank youLast edited by dunginhawk; 09-22-2015 at 08:38 PM.

Now i switched to PLA, and the first print, the nozzle was so far off the bed, i had to cancel it.
Found out my Z axis sides were 4mm difference.. how the hell does that happen? over the course of an hour

How are you z rods coupled to the motor shaft?
