chp...? recently issued a call to designers to create pieces that would address the poetic potential of new technology. Designer Gijs Bakker responded with the creation of a 3D printed Porsche bracelet which he hoped would raise questions about the gendered politics of jewelry and automobiles. Bakker first created the bracelet by casting translucent resin in a 3D printed mold but with advances in the 3D printing of metals produced the piece in black, scratch proof chrome for this collection. The use of the Porsche is meant to create jewelry that is responsive to the masculine attraction to cars while still existing as jewelry in its own right. Check out the bracelet at 3DPrint.com:
