Blokko, Changing the Toy Industry On 3D Print at a Time

Blokko is a new and unusual 3D printing platform that encourages storytellers and digital artists to all come together in creating 3D designs of toys for sale in the Blokko marketplace. The designs are compatible with Ultimaker and RepRap printers, but development of the platform and the blokk 3D design template is still ongoing. Blokko plans to democratize the world of toymaking with the opportunities afforded by the new world of online marketplaces, sharing, and 3D design and 3D printing. Blokko is a true innovator in the art of storytelling on the web with the inclusion of illustrations through 3D printed toys that match the tales being read. While the stories and toys are fun and different in themselves, Blokko also has another goal in that they are working to completely democratize the true art in toymaking so that anyone can have a chance to sell their work in the marketplace without having to have an enormous amount of capital to begin. Blokko sees 3D printing as an avenue for this democratization. They will doing a soft launch at the end of this week. While still not fully functional, it’s a great time to check out some of the new stories, 3D printable characters, and resources.
