James Christianson knew he wanted to use his Afinia 3D printer to make something Iron Man related from the Avengers, and he settled on a boot prototype. Using a blog to document his progress, he made version one without expensive electronics. Version two was fancier, using more expensive and integrated electronics that a team he pulled together helped him design. He is now working with a team on a third version of the boot which he claims will be made of "a skeletal frame instead of the outside armor," and this boot will have even more expensive electronics and redesigned plate movements -- exciting for Iron Man and 3D printing fans alike!
