Part 3D Printing, Part Sculpting, Amazing Outcome
Designers and technicians Marlieke Wijnakker and Yao van den Heerik have built a 3D printer which is capable of creating large objects in clay, and they say the VormVrij 3D printer could be used to streamline an ancient artistic method -- sculpting in clay. The printer can use materials which create objects in stoneware, porcelain or traditional clay pottery, but they add that it's also capable of creating rough busts which can be finished by a sculptors hand. Very interesting and impressive. We make an inexpensive handheld dispenser for slip-trailing, the AirPen® Color Dispenser, that compliments this technique.
