Local Motors has been shaking things up in both the 3D printing and automotive industries, especially since they successfully 3D printed a car, their Strati model, in 44 hours last September at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). In September, 3DPrint.com had the chance to talk with Jay Rogers, Local Motors' CEO, regarding short- and long-term goals and strategies -- and it looks like they're right on pace with where they want to be. Now, 3DPrint.com has had the opportunity to catch up with Justin Fishkin, Local Motors' Chief Strategy Officer, who filled us in on more plans the company has. Local Motors intends to open 50 microfactories in the next half-decade, all around the world, ultimately offering customers personalized vehicle selection and the ability to upgrade and even recycle parts or the whole car.
