Driverless vehicles remain a bit of a mystery as they continue to be developed -- but the UK is working toward a near-future launch of driverless "pods" that can each fit two passengers. The "LUTZ Pathfinder" was introduced last month in London and will be tested later in 2015 in Milton Keynes; the plan is that by the end of 2017, a fleet of 40 of these vehicles will be operable. In order to answer questions about the LUTZ Pathfinder, a festival in Shanghai recently featured a 3D printed scale model of the vehicles to demonstrate their size comparison to a person. The issue of scale is important for these, as the electric powered pods are designed to drive on pavements and other typically pedestrian walking areas. The LUTZ Pathfinder will be built by RDM Group, with technology from the University of Oxford's Mobile Robotics Group.
