MakerBot has just announced their new Starter Lab setup to get schools, universities, libraries, businesses, and other institutions started with establishing their own makerspaces. A starter version of their Innovation Center, the Starter Lab allows for the groundwork to be laid to get an institution started. Two universities in New York -- State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill (SUNY Cobleskill) and Union College -- are the first to purchase the new kits. SUNY Cobleskill has already gotten their system set up and in use among students, while Union College is looking forward to what their new MakerBot lab space will provide. Included int eh Starter Lab are six MakerBot Replicator 3D printers (four Desktop, one Z18, and one Mini Compact), one Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner, and ten Smart Extruders on the hardware side, as well as materials, accessories, training, support, and software.
