There seems to be a lot of mistakes in the specs. Perhaps you used mm (millimeter) in places where you meant M (meter)?
As in you built a wall 400 mm (about 16 inches) long?

Looks like a great printer, but they don't have the resolution posted anywhere.
It uses belt drives and threaded rods to move, so I am guessing it could be improved.
Seems very limited, as you would have to have a powder that absorbs the ink, and the ink would always be a contaminant.
It does give me an idea of how to create different densities in an object...
Of course it will happen. This is a exponentially expanding technology. Every company that has a core technology of moving parts will jump in.
First, it will be all about extruding more materials...
Plastic guns represent danger only to the rich and powerful of the world, and idiots that don't follow instructions.
If someone builds a plastic gun, they will not be using it to hunt squirrels....
An abundance of 'things' does not equate to Utopia.
Plus, as our printers get better and better, the wealthy will just enforce stronger control over raw materials, and pass laws to restrict their...
There are occasions when you want the whole world to look at you. There are other times when you only want your friends to look at you.
I am designing a 3D fashion outfit, and it may cost several...
Wouldn't it be nice if a printer company offered inexpensive filament of every color on rolls that fit their inexpensive machine (with a DIY kit option)? With inexpensive hardware upgrades available?...
Actually, it is fairly easy to change colors per layer on any machine. You just pause it and change filament. We do it every day. If you want to be more exact, you can edit the Gcode so that it...
One technique for unclogging a hot tip is to heat it up and then dipping filament into it, pulling it back out and clipping the molten part off. If there is a metal burr that won't go through the...
I can't imagine paying so much, $2899, for a machine with about $1000 worth of technology in it.
They added a few features, like a camera, a network board, a color display, but that only added...
I think SSYS is interesting because they bought Makerbot, sued Afina, make money by extreme proprietary control of consumables, and control everything possible with their patents.
All of the things...
A novel idea that I have considered is suspending metal particles in a fluid, flowing the fluid through a nozzle with an electrical charge at the tip that would cause the metal to be attracted to the...
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I would have recommended Netfabb Studio Basic. We use it for slicing and also for repair of bad objects. It has a lot of useful features for a free program.
Heating the bed can take a lot of power. That's one of the problems when scaling up. For an 8x8 I have used 2 ohms of resistance at 12 volts, about 6 amps. At that level you have to worry about the...
I have built them from kits, and tried to design my own. Mechanically designing them is difficult without the correct equipment, as all of the bearing rods have to be very parallel to avoid jamming.
If you like one of the 'customizable' objects on Thingiverse, but it isn't quite what you want, I can easily alter it for you.
I also have access to several printers, can do electronic design and...
I agree. Such an idea is worth more than the $5000 top prize.
If you find a customizable phone case on Thingiverse, you can download the OpenSCAD file and alter it to fit your phone. The software is free, and usually the parameters you want to alter are easy to...
The stingray tiles can be made so that they link in every direction, so that you can make a flexible thing. Sort of like chain mail.
This is a sign I made that says "IMAGINE DESIGN CREATE".

An earlier project is Hanz, a posable figure, in OpenSCAD.

His head was very difficult, with mounting holes for the LEDs.

I made several hands, one has an LED for pointing.

This yellow and blue "Minion" is popular with the kids.
I'm new to the mechanical design arena, taught myself how to do it last Summer. So first, my bracelet:

It rotates through all of the colors, quite bright. It is based on my tile design,...
I get info about what's going on through a couple of 3D printer online zines:

Plus I scan Hackaday: http://hackaday.com/
Gizmag:...
Remember, 3D printing is already 30 years old. It has only had this spurt of innovation because a patent ran out and people started racing to make a cheaper printer.
I work with a $10k printer,...
