Cooper Hewitt Museum Reopens With High-tech 3D Printing Information

After three years of heavy restoration activities, the Cooper Hewitt Museum reopens its doors today to the public. The Museum now features 60% more viewing space, and a whole lot of high-tech 3D printing information and activity being spotlighted, thanks to 3D Systems, which is very involved with the Museum and is responsible for two workshops. Also included in two of the exhibits are a 3D printer and 3D printed examples of items like prosthetics, a guitar and skateboard, and even the 3D printed exoskeleton responsible for restoring paraplegics with the ability to walk. In a grand culmination of three years of hard work, multiple projects, teams, and concepts all coming together, the newly remodeled Cooper Hewitt is open once again. Last week at the grand reopening, Cooper Hewitt staff were able to cut the ribbon for the special day, using a sleek looking oversized pair of metal plated 3D printed scissors. 3D Systems was heavily involved in many of the promotional events before the re-opening, as well as sponsoring and contributing to new exhibits such as the Process Lab, and the Beautiful Users exhibit.
