Researchers today present their findings on the impact of 3D printed models of patients' heads being used in the planning of full facial transplant surgeries. The findings are extremely positive, as through using CT data to produce 3D printed models of patients' heads, surgeons and radiologists are able to examine the features of the patient’s head and face for pre-operative planning, as well as for use in the operating room. Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital are presenting research today at the annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting.
