Carolin Schulze, a designer at the Burg Biebichentein Art Academy in Halle, Germany, has received important design awards for her 3D printed “Bugs Bunnies,” small pastry snacks made from mealworms. Schulze’s project addresses the problem of the excessive use of dwindling resources in global food production as well as Westerners' aversion to eating bugs, a source of valuable protein in some non-Western diets.
