As 3D printing takes off and is an obvious source of revenue for delivery companies, the USPS conducted a study, led by consulting company Laurits R. Christensen Associates, who came to the conclusion that if a 3D printing revolution does indeed happen, the USPS stands to increase revenues by 18-28 percent, depending on different factors, including the amount of 3D printing going on in homes, use of mail, ordering of supplies, and how well the USPS positions themselves with 3D printing service bureaus and networks.
