3D Printed Helmet Aid Brain Tumor Survivor
Every day there seems to be new idea, and new creations brought forth through the use of 3D printing technology. Now one company based in Finland has 3D printed a custom protective helmet for a man who recently had a brain tumor removed from his head. The surgery left him with a large unprotected portion of his brain, where a piece of skull was removed. Playful Pixels took photos of the man's head, loaded them into modeling software and then proceeded to print out a helmet on a MakerBot 3D Printer. The results were almost perfect, and both the client and designers were very pleased. Read and see more on this at: http://3dprint.com/21117/3d-printed-protective-helmet/

I'm going to guess the task would have been much more difficult had he a full head of hair. Also going to guess that some sort of retainer strap was required? Currently, cranial reformation helmets for children can only be ordered by certified fitters via specialized fabricators. Leads me to wonder how much warping occurred during the print process.
Do bed magnets deteriorate.
