New York Governor Announces $10m Grant for Expansion of 3D Printing in State

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo today announce the third round of funding of NYSUNY 2020, in the amount of $55 million. $10 of this money will go to funding and Engineering Innovation Hub at SUNY New Paltz. The hub will incorporate 3D printing and other forms of advanced manufacturing, and should help expand the Footprint of 3D printing within the state. This month marks the first anniversary of State University of New York at New Paltz opening the first university MakerBot Innovation Center, and it definitely far exceeded expectations in bringing 3D printing to both the university and the community. With an enormous amount of enthusiasm that followed, numerous innovations were created, as well as bonds forged with the business community, and grants bestowed on SUNY New Paltz, allowing them to expand further. To celebrate the one-year anniversary, MakerBot CEO Jenny Lawton will be giving a speech at the university regarding 3D printing, called ‘12 Years from Now,’ next Wednesday, February 25th.
