You Can Now 3D Print Your Own BoxTrolls From Upcoming Movie

At this end of the month, moviegoers can look forward to seeing Laika Studio’s The BoxTrolls on the big screen. While the cardboard-clad trolls themselves are certainly getting their share of attention, so is the fact that 3D printing was used extensively in crafting the characters’ faces. While 3D printing was used in its limited stages during Coraline, also a Laika film, The BoxTrolls artists were able to use the 3D Systems ProJet 660Pro 3D to enhance the characters in their stop-motion film. Also something new: Laika will be providing 3D design downloads for Boxtrolls fans, who would like to print them in 3D or order designs to be printed through Cubify.
